Details

It is a medium tree of 20 to 25 feet in height and it is found in almost all the parts of India. It is highly rich in vitamin C, and is known to be the best source of it. Other than this it is rich in gallic acid, tannic acid and cellulose, etc.

In Sanskrit it is known as Dhatri. In Bengali speaking States, Amla is known as amalki. In Kannada and Malayalam it is known as Nelli. In Marathi and Gujarati speaking States is known as awala.
