The Golghar neighbourhood ofPatnais home to a basic yet endearing structure that combines historical significance with unspoiled natural beauty. Captain John Garstin constructed it in 1786 with the intention of using it as storage. It is interesting to note that Golghar was never completely stocked since it is said that a mechanical defect prevents the doors from opening when the granary is fully loaded, hence it was never packed to the maximum extent possible. Along with having a huge granary, Golghar's summit provides a breath-taking panoramic view of the city and the Ganges.
