Because of their durability, hues, and hardness, tourmaline gemstones are highly sought-after. Turamali, a Singhalese term meaning "Stone of mixed colors," is where the name tourmaline originates. One of the various colors that tourmalines come in is black. The stone belongs to the class of cyclosilicate minerals known as boron silicate minerals. The elements that are trace are magnesium and iron. Though it can also be considered as a tint of magical energy and concealing, black has historically been associated with darkness. Thus, black tourmalines are thought to be able to shield against nighttime danger. A tourmaline with a black hue is what is meant to be understood as black tourmaline. It can have a blue or green undertone or be entirely black. The Schorl kind of tourmaline is black in color.
