The CAT exam is most important for the MBA student it will be conducted on 24th November 2024.   CAT exam is an online computer-based exam which is conducted by IIM (Indian Institute of Management) Calcutta. The main CAT syllabus 2024 of this exam is divided into three parts. 

• Quantitative Aptitude (QA)

•  Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR)

•  Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC). 

All the questions are set in equal portions.

For a long time, from 2010-2019, it was the 3-hour exam. Due to the pandemic, the time is set to be 2 hours. The pattern of the questions is 

 the MCQs (MultipleChoice Questions) carry negative marks when the answer is wrong. 

TITA (Type in the Answer) while TITA ones do not.

• Read important newspapers, magazines, and books to improve vocabulary and comprehension skills, and reputed newspapers are The Hindu or The Indian Express.

• Practice Comprehension: Revise last years questions papers and mock tests. Try to understand the meaning of the passage and keep trying to summarise it in your way(word).

•  Focus on Grammar and Vocabulary

The DILR section

• Regular Practice: The most important key of  DILR is daily practice. Try to understand the pattern and solve more and more difficult problems in a few seconds.

• Understand the Logic: first try to understand the logic behind the question rather than solve the problem. This trick will help you during the exam and save exam time.

• Mock Tests: Solving mock tests regularly it will help you to check your speed and performance. It will help you manage your time and marks accurately. You will see your performance and notice which topic needs more time.

The QA Section

•  Basics: Ensure that your basics are very clear and strong because it is the foundation of topics like percentages, ratios, algebra, and so on.

• Practice: Regular practice is the master key to achieving success in the QA. Try to solve different problems using different methods and take a variety of sources, including previous years' papers, books, mock tests, and other online resources.

•  Management: the main part of the preparation is time management.To solve the problem within a time limit. This will help you to improve speed and accuracy, which are important during the examination.
